I haven't logged into all my RL social platform in 3 months. Honestly, it used to bother me that I kept comparing my life with other people's lives. When I finally decided to log off all my RL social network, I have been happier and content. Nowadays, I only focus on myself. No more feeling bad or depressed!
And sometimes I wish.... cellphones and social networks were never invented- I know, I'm selfish to think this, but I think people were way more open and interactive amongst each other back then.... missing the good ol' days.

for me, cellphones and social networks have been a life saver, i have mental illnesses that make it hard for me to just call a person or have a face to face conversation. being able to communicate via text or in comments like this, helps me be interactive and open and social instead of how it was when i was a kid.

I understand this perspective. I gave up facebook about 4 years ago and in both worlds, its improved my life DRAMATICALLY. I can't say that I was comparing myself to others; but back then I felt like a rowboat of positive amongst a sea of anger and negativity, specially on the SLFB aspect of FB.

I focus more in the virtual world now, and with the coming of Social VR specifically, I can express and share my virtual world as I see fit - and its easy to remove and add people I feel like fit my idea of what I want to see on my feed. I think moderation and remembering you have no obligation to anything that makes you feel bad is key.
